PetroChina (Iraq) Ahdeb Company Signs Innovation Consortium Framework AgreementPerforating Gun
On May 7, after extensive negotiations, PetroChina (Iraq) Al-Ahdab Company, Zhenhua Petroleum Holdings Co., Ltd., Oasis Petroleum Co., Ltd., China Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute, Zhenhua Petroleum Exploration and Development Research Institute, and China Petroleum Chuanqing Drilling, Geological Exploration and Development Research Institute signed a framework agreement to form an innovation consortium aimed at increasing and stabilizing production in the Ahdeb Oilfield in Iraq.
The Ahdeb Oilfield Project is significant as the first foreign oil cooperation project and the first oil service contract in Iraq's post-war reconstruction. It is also China Petroleum Corporation's inaugural oilfield development project in Iraq. This agreement marks a milestone for the stable production and future development planning of the Ahdeb Oilfield.
Innovation Consortium and Technology Seminar
Concurrent with the signing, Ahdeb Company hosted the first seminar on carbonate rock water injection development technology in the Middle East. Various units presented reports on the current state of oil field development. The partners in the innovation consortium and PetroChina Abu Dhabi Company discussed the challenges in increasing and stabilizing production at the Ahdeb Oilfield, such as difficulties in stabilizing oil and water control, limited measures, and low success rates of oil enhancement techniques. They exchanged experiences and discussed strategies for water injection development in the Middle East’s carbonate rocks. Based on 11 detailed reports, participants provided insights and recommendations.
The establishment of the innovation consortium and the successful seminar on carbonate rock water injection development technology set a clear direction for enhancing and stabilizing production at the Ahdeb Oilfield. Moving forward, Ahdeb Company will collaborate closely with its consortium partners to achieve significant progress in their innovation efforts.
