Drilling an oil and gas well, the construction period ranges from more than ten days to more than a year due to different factors such as drilling depth, geological hardness, pressure, and well process requirements. The drilling process is also quite complicated, and we will only discuss the more important key points.

1. Setting casing

CasingCasing design can be said to be the highlight of drilling. Any well will often encounter several different geology, depth or emergency conditions, production and development requirements, etc. during the drilling process, so several layers of casing are required to protect the wellbore in order to successfully drill into the target.

The drilling well is drilled by drilling the well to a certain depth or layer of the formation, then a layer of casing is lowered, and then a smaller size drill bit is used for drilling. Take the mine shaft as an example. After drilling to 1,500 meters with a 17  1/2" drill bit in the first phase, a 13 3/8" surface casing is lowered, and only a 12 1/4" drill bit can be used to drill... etc.
