Types of valve gaskets

A gasket is a sealing element that is placed between two sealing surfaces to prevent leakage of the medium. The gasket material should have good compressibility, resilience, corrosion resistancGaskete, aging resistance, and low creep. According to the different materials and shapes of the gaskets, they can be divided into the following types:

Valve Gasket

Non-metallic gaskets: They are made of materials such as rubber, asbestos, graphite, PTFE, etc. They have good elasticity, low strength, and poor pressure and temperature resistance. They are suitable for low-pressure and low-temperature occasions, such as water, steam, oil, etc.

Metal gaskets: They are made of materials such as copper, aluminum, steel, stainless steel, etc. They have high strength, good pressure and temperature resistance, but poor elasticity and sealing performance. They are suitable for high-pressure and high-temperature occasions, such as flammable, explosive, toxic, and corrosive media.

Composite gaskets: They are made of a combination of metal and non-metal materials, such as metal-clad gaskets, metal spiral wound gaskets, metal toothed gaskets, etc. They have both the advantages of metal and non-metal materials, such as good elasticity, high strength, and good sealing performance. They are suitable for various occasions, such as high-pressure, high-temperature, low-temperature, and vacuum conditions.

The selection of gaskets should be based on the working conditions, such as the pressure, temperature, medium, and flange type of the valve. Different types of gaskets have different sealing performance, installation requirements, and service life. Therefore, the gasket should be selected according to the specific situation to ensure the sealing effect and reliability of the valve.
