Drill Stem Testing Tools(DST Tools)

Purpose:

Formation test, also called DST-Drill Stem Testing. It is a test to hydrocarbon reservoir during drilling or after completion, aiming to acquire various characteristic parameters of formation and reservoir in dynamic   conditions, such as:reservoir output, pressure, fluids property, permeability, fluids sample, etc.and to   offer a quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the production layer.

Principle:

Convey the DST tools to the test position by drill pipe or tubing, set the packer and isolate the test layer apart from the other layers, then, open the tester valve by operating from the ground, the fluids will go through the testing string and flow to the ground by the differential pressure.Multi-operation of open and close from the gound can gain pressure build up curve of the reservoir and get fluids sample of the formation by the final well  close. At last,to get the output and characteristic parameters of producing  layer by analyzing the buildup curve and fluids sample.
