The manual double ram BOP is a safety device that seals the wellhead when working with pump rods. It prevents the high pressure gas, oil, and water in the formation from escaping during workover operations and pump rod lifting. Also called as Pump Rod Blowout Preventer, or Pump Rod BOP. If an abnormal condition occurs while lifting the pump rod, the operator can use a screw or a hydraulic system to activate the pipe ram and close the gap around the pump rod. This ensures the wellhead is fully sealed, the production is safe, and the blowout risk is minimized, protecting the environment.
